New Year, New Bible Study Plan

Have you tried to read through the Bible in a year and failed? I have failed trying to do that plan before too. I used to get so discouraged trying to complete a reading plan that at the time I wasn't ready to do, and that's ok. I have since completed the read through the Bible plan in a year 3 times, but that was after a few failures, and a few years spent not reading my bible daily or barely at all. It's ok to start over, to try again or try something different. If you are like me and struggled and failed, how about trying something different? Did you know that you can read the entire New Testament in one year by reading 1 chapter a day only on the weekdays? That's right, you can have the weekends off to rest and catch up. Although I have finally been able to complete the read the bible in a year plan, I'm going to slow down this year and just read through the New Testament. That will give me time on the weekends to Bible journal more and study for my Sunday school class. I'm going to focus on diving deeper and reading some commentaries along with each chapter I read. Here are some pics of how I do my daily Bible reading. I hope it can help someone get started on a reading plan of their own.

I used my planner last year to write down what I planned to read each day according to my Bible reading plan. I got a new one so that I can do the same thing this year.

This is a glimpse inside my planner from last year and the bible I use for reading and note-taking. It doesn't have to be pretty, just spend some time in the word.

I also set up an easy prayer journal to start the year out. I got this cheap journal at Wal-Mart for under $2, I wrote a verse on the front and added a place for a prayer list inside. This just helps me stay organized and focused in my prayer time.
