My Favorite Bible Journaling Supplies
Updated: Nov 23
People ask me all the time what my favorite Bible Journaling supplies are or what works best in my Bible. Here is a list with links to my favorite supplies and the ones I've found to work best. A lot of these supplies can be found at Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby, but some I have only found on Amazon. I personally like to shop in store, but sometimes what I need I've only found online. When I started Bible Journaling, I used Scribbling Grace's blog post of what to use, so many of my favorites are also her favorites too. I will include a link to her post about supplies as well as a video I created about watercolor paints I've tried.
Here are pics of some of my favorite Bible Journaling pens. The first pic is my favorite gel pens, Uniball Signo gel pens. I love the variety pack, but I use the gold, white, and silver the most. I put a link to the variety pack, but you can buy just white pens or gold, sliver and white in a pack. The second picture is my favorite pens for fine line writing or drawing, Micron pens of different sizes and Sharpie felt tip, no bleed pens. I personally prefer the Sharpie no bleed through as opposed to the Micron pens, but I like both pens for Bible Journaling. The final pic is my favorite calligraphy pens, Tombow Fudenosuke black ink brush pens. Here is the link to my Amazon Store Front where you can purchase these supplies ( I do earn commission for things purchase on my storefront):
Here are my favorite paints and coloring pencils. I have found that any type of acrylic paint works well as long as it is a matte finish. The matte finish is best because the other finishes are sticky even after they dry. I personally prefer the Apple Barrel paints because they are cheap and I can find a large variety at Wal-Mart. Every type of colored pencils works great, but I personally prefer crayola (It's the teacher in me hahaha). My favorite watercolors are the Gansai Tambi, but I have a couple of other sets to suggest that I have tested and those sets also work well in a bible. I also have included a video of some cheaper sets that I have found at the dollar tree and dollar general that I tested and those worked well in a bible too. The illustrated faith was my favorite as a beginner watercolor painter. I still love that set today! t's all up to you and how much you want to invest in your supplies!
Here's a review of some cheaper sets that I found around town.
Here's the last of my favorite supplies. I use my heat gun every single time that I journal. It helps me get my page to dry quickly between layers of paint and lettering. I use any and every type of cheap paint brush I can find on sale, but I really love the round tip brushes I get from Wal-Mart. I included a link to that specific pack, but any pack of brushes works well. I also really like the Mildliner pens/markers. There is very little shadowing and they can be used for lettering or for coloring. They also work well to highlight text in your bible. These pens do not work well for lettering your verse on top of a painting though because they are very light colored.
