Great Joy
The angels told the shepherds they had "good tidings of great joy", but how much joy are we feeling this Christmas season? When we think of Christmas we probably think of joy, but when we analyze our hearts, are they joyful or overwhelmed? I have felt convicted for feeling so stressed about food preparations, gift buying, event attendance, and the list can go on and on. When I really started thinking about all these things I have become so wrapped up in, very little of those things are centered on Jesus and celebrating that joyful gift of his life, death, and resurrection. Although I know what Christmas is about, I have let it slip from my thoughts and have focused instead on the celebrations rather than what's being celebrated. This gift of Jesus coming into this world so that he could save us from our sin is the good and perfect gift. It is a gift we can never out-do in all our efforts of gift exchanging of worldly treasures. Let's really remember this Christmas season what we are celebrating and try and share that joyful, precious gift with someone who may not know what Christmas is really about. We come in contact every single day with someone who does not know that Jesus came and gave his life to make eternal life for them possible through faith in that sacrifice He made, so lets make a point to tell someone about it.
This post includes a lesson template with discussion questions, a video demonstration with a link to a printable material, as well as a traceable I created. I hope that this can be a journaling activity you can do to reflect on the meaning of this season and find some joy in Jesus.
Both pages I did as tip-ins, but I made the traceable in two sizes in case you need a smaller one and would like to trace it straight into your bible.
