Don't forget God when you are on the Mountain Top

When we look at the life of King David in 1st and 2nd Samuel, we see a man who had been through many trials and triumphs. He has been described as a man after God's own heart, but even this man after God's own heart made mistakes. The difference between David and many of us today, David humbled himself and sought forgiveness from God when he messed up. This journaling page comes from 2 Samuel chapter 12, verse 10. It comes after David's sin of adultery with Bathsheba which David tried to cover up by having her husband killed at war. David at that time was on the "mountain top" so to speak. He was the king of a great nation, he had many wives and children, and he had a forceful army with mighty men that would give their life for David. One of these mighty men was the man that was married to Bathsheba whom David gave the orders to have him killed in battle. David had been through times of being down and leaning upon God, but right now, on the mountain top, he seemed to have forgotten about God. We are also guilty of this same thing. When things are going well, we slowly slide farther away from God. We start to feel independent and proud in our own person, and we forget where God has brought us from. I pray that God will remind me of what he's brought me through, and that I will keep that close to my heart as I serve him by serving others. When David realized how far he had fallen, he humbled himself and begged God for forgiveness. He was forgiven fully, but the consequences he would have to live with. The journaled verse focuses on the consequences that followed this sin to remind me of how easy it can be to fall away from God.

2 Samuel: "10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die."

There are two artwork options. There is a traceable included as well. For the pciture on the left, I just slowly added hair to make the hair look full and curly.
